The Friends of the Old Forge Library, founded in 1977, is a volunteer organization whose goals are to promote library programming and to help raise revenue to support the library. The group sponsors Authors’ Day, Art Exhibits, and events of local interest such as Adirondack Programming. In addition, the Friends publish four newsletters a year. Revenue is raised through book, bake, & bazaar sales, and their annual BASH Benefit.
The Friends meet on the first Tuesday of each month at Noon and welcome new members.

World Explorers to Share Their Adventures at the Old Forge Library
On Tuesday August 13th from 5:30 – 7:30 p.m. world travelers Zoe Agasi and Olivier Van Herck will share their one of a kind world-wide adventure at the Old Forge Library. Their unique mode of transportation will astound all those attending this event as they use Old Forge as a hub for the next leg of their journey.
Starting in northern Europe in 2016, they have spent 903 days traveling by bike, foot, sailboat and soon by canoe. They have been sharing their experiences and the people they have met along the way on social media and on their website www.weleaf.nl. Having carefully logged every mile, they will present an interesting and colorful perspective on how they see the world around them. By the time they reach Old Forge they will have logged over 4,500 miles by self-provided power. After a short rest here in town, they will continue their journey starting from the Old Forge Pond, traveling along the Northern Forest Canoe Trail towards Fort Kent, Maine in their Northstar canoe.
Sponsored by Northstar Canoes, The North Face, Northern Forest Canoe Trail, Mountainman Outdoor Supply Company and countless other Companies, Businesses and Friends, their program will capture a unique perspective that few others have had the opportunity to experience. Come join us for an evening of adventure as they present an interactive and entertaining presentation. Admission is free and all are welcome.
